But being inspired by Posh Spice? Victoria Beckham?
That's right! There is only one person famous as Posh Spice, she is Victoria Beckham.
Victoria Beckham (born Adams) is not Hilary Clinton, not Oprah Winfrey, not Lisa Ling, not Raden Ajeng Kartini, she is not even La Chica Latina, Betty Suarez. She became known by the world when she was the Posh Spice of Spice Girls, who shouted loud "Girl Power!" to inspire girls. Posh indeed, as she has always been into fashion, and married one of British most stylish men, David Beckham. Together they since made "Posh and Becks", a nickname the media address them. Together they make themselves "619th richest person in Britain".
You might say Vicky is known and rich for doing nothing. Just like an American dream. And it is totally okay, in fact I thought that way too. I think Posh barely sang. She has a thin voice as much as I remember all Spice Girls' songs. Most of the time I hear Mel C and Geri's voices.
But one month ago, American Idol Season 9 began. As I knew that this season would be different from previous seasons, as they have mentioned about Ellen deGeneres as the replacement for Paula Abdul, I just knew that a different guest judge also appears in every audition session. And guess who the very first guest judge in the premier episode was. Yes, Victoria Beckham.
Arriving in the location, Vicky posed for cameramen, paparazzi, she answered questions from journalists, she even talked to American Idol crew. She said that it was a dream came true to be assigned as a guest judge in an American Idol audition. Posing, smiling, talking, she really enjoyed what she was doing. She was so funny.
And when she judged, she was really serious in her judgment, she even criticized on Simon Cowell for being cruel to the contestants. Vicky even judged again in the last audition. And she always came two full days in a row. The other guest judges came only on one day.
Vicky might had never through hardships like the other women I mentioned above, at least I knew how Oprah struggled, even Madonna Veronica Ciccone a.k.a. Madonna. But maybe that is not really true. I'm sure she had gone through things before she eventually formed Spice Girls. But maybe not as hard as the other steel women I mentioned. Her career path is relatively smooth, and as she gained more fame for being Mrs. Beckham, she spread her wings wider.
If you type "Victoria Beckham" on Google, you'll find about 11,900 references refer to Victoria Beckham. Explanation about her on Wikipedia is a long page, with a long list of outer sources.
Posh was not my favourite spice of Spice Girls. Mine was Ginger (Geri Haliwell). But where is she now and what is she doing now? I don't know. Never seen her or heard about her lately. Even the best vocalist in Spice Girls, Sporty (Melanie C), haven't heard about her either lately. But for at least one decade, I've always seen Posh and Becks everywhere.
Exist. Exist. Work. Being greater and greater. Posh might have gained her fame for doing not much, but she proved that she can do more than people thought.
Ugly Betty Season 3 Episode 24: Daniel Meade (portrayed by Eric Mabius), and Wilhelmina Slater (Vanessa Williams) argue about who deserves the promotion for Features Editor, Betty Suarez (America Ferrera) or Marc St. James (Michael Urie), as both are qualified. It is a hard decision, as both of them deserve it. They finally flip a coin: Marc is head, Betty is tail. And Betty wins. Later, in Season 4 Episode 4, Betty knows about this, and she questions her own talent for being a Features Editor. She doesn't think flipping a coin is fair enough and doesn't really indicate that she is talented. On this, Daniel says, "Some get their job because they're tails, some got their jobs because their father owns the company. Doesn't matter how you got it, matters how you deal with it."
